  In ancient times, practicing kongfu was often likened as hanging pictures on the wall, mopping the lawn, joking, or kissing. Actually, kongfu is an art of attack or defense called Jiji. For kongfu masters, its simple and artistic, but for common people, practicing kongfu means injuries, endurance, willpower and conquer.

  

  Hello everyone! So as an extra credit project for my AP World Class, we were asked to make a music video to help remember the order of the Chinese Dynasties and some key facts about them. Here is our final product, which was set to the tune of “Tik Tok” by Ke$ha. I hope everyone enjoys it! (or at least learns about the Chinese dynasties from it!)   Portland Community College hosted this lecture as part of the symposium “Shifting Trade Winds: APEC, Globalization & The Pacific Northwest” in Portland, Oregon in September 2011. Jeff Wasserstrom is a Professor of History at UC Irvine and his lecture is titled: “US-China Relations in Globalizing Times: Legacies of the Past and Challenges for the Future.” In 2011, the United States hosted the leaders of some of the world’s largest economies for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. In anticipation of this major event, Portland Community College welcomed the public, our local business community, and college and university faculty to a symposium to discuss trade and cultural issues in the Asia-Pacific region. www.pcc.edu

• Chinese Class Talent Show Slide Show

  Alright! I fixed the misplaced text on the slides and took some text out. This is the final and way better draft of my slide show about my friends’ and my experiences in Taiwan. I added annotations so you can see what the captions mean. The slides still say the same stuff as last time though (see the video draft for the text meaning). Hopefully they stay on the right pictures this time. My friends and people who went to the Talent Show today told me they liked my slide show. I was glad but was worried if it wouldn’t be very good; I’m glad they came and told me they liked it. The show today was really fun. I’m going to upload my friends’ skits because they were really good and deserve mentioning! My teammates were also really creative and had a good skit too (I was the narrator for the skits they were in and I played my slide show at the beginning). We got a last minute team member for the Talent Show; a golden retriever who is now named Muffin. She followed one of our group members onto the stage when we were doing our skits. What happened was our friend went to a convenience store the previous day and a dog was there. When he tried to leave she jumped on his friend’s scooter and wouldn’t get off (or on) unless he got off (or on). He walked back to his room and the dog followed him. She really likes him and follows him everywhere. If he stands up and walks somewhere she’ll be up a second after him and follow him. It’s so sweet and he has been taking good care of her …
