The documentary begins with a laborer digging in the earth. He is digging what will become his sacrificial grave. Dramatically, his head is chopped off and the theme music begins for the series. A bit sensationalistic at first, we get into the archaeology of why this scene was reconstructed this way. The Shang Dynasty, once considered legend, is now archaeological fact. Dating back to nearly 3000 BC, the Shang were a powerful group of early rulers. The evidence of oracle bones, on which the earliest form of Chinese writing were written. The city of Anyang, some 300 miles from Beijing, is the site where oracle bones were first discovered in 1928. So, the Shang were not legendary or mythical after all, but a dynasty in fact. Headless skeletons were discovered, suggesting human sacrifice. Some of these sites date to 1300-1500 BC and form an essential, and repeated patter in this Bronze Age culture. Bronze vessels that were extremely intricate for these mandate of heaven rulers. Bronze casting was perfected as an art during the Shang, and many have been found. We learn about Wu Di, and his queen, who led his armies in war. She was his general, who gave great victories. Her name was Fu Hao. At Xanshingdui, there was a rival culture that vied with the Shang. Indeed, over the next eight centuries, there were numerous cultures that jockeyed for power and position in early China. The Zhou were the next dynasty, and centered at Xi’an. The following were the Warring States Period …

1967 www.amazon.com Watch the full film: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com Mao Zedong (Wade-Giles: Mao Tse-tung) (December 26, 1893 – September 9, 1976) was a Chinese revolutionary, political theorist and communist leader. He led the People’s Republic of China (PRC) from its establishment in 1949 until his death in 1976. His theoretical contribution to Marxism-Leninism, military strategies, and his brand of Communist policies are now collectively known as Maoism. Mao remains a controversial figure to this day, with a contentious and ever-evolving legacy. He is officially held in high regard in China as a great revolutionary, political strategist, military mastermind, and savior of the nation. Many Chinese also believe that through his policies, he laid the economic, technological and cultural foundations of modern China, transforming the country from an agrarian society into a major world power. Additionally, Mao is viewed by many as a poet, philosopher, and visionary, owing the latter primarily to the cult of personality fostered during his time in power. As a consequence, his portrait continues to be featured prominently on Tiananmen and on all Renminbi bills. Conversely, Mao’s social-political programs, such as the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, are blamed for costing millions of lives, causing severe famine and damage to the culture, society and economy of China. This is generally accepted in China as well as by the Chinese Communist Party. Mao’s policies …

Alright! I fixed the misplaced text on the slides and took some text out. This is the final and way better draft of my slide show about my friends’ and my experiences in Taiwan. I added annotations so you can see what the captions mean. The slides still say the same stuff as last time though (see the video draft for the text meaning). Hopefully they stay on the right pictures this time. My friends and people who went to the Talent Show today told me they liked my slide show. I was glad but was worried if it wouldn’t be very good; I’m glad they came and told me they liked it. The show today was really fun. I’m going to upload my friends’ skits because they were really good and deserve mentioning! My teammates were also really creative and had a good skit too (I was the narrator for the skits they were in and I played my slide show at the beginning). We got a last minute team member for the Talent Show; a golden retriever who is now named Muffin. She followed one of our group members onto the stage when we were doing our skits. What happened was our friend went to a convenience store the previous day and a dog was there. When he tried to leave she jumped on his friend’s scooter and wouldn’t get off (or on) unless he got off (or on). He walked back to his room and the dog followed him. She really likes him and follows him everywhere. If he stands up and walks somewhere she’ll be up a second after him and follow him. It’s so sweet and he has been taking good care of her …

20 year old underground Christian seminary in China remains undiscovered by the government! See how Chinese Christians learn about Jesus from a cave they dug out with their own hands! Despite severe persecution, Christians in China are flourishing and churches are growing. China is a magnificent country, full of history, mystery and captivating beauty. But behind the wall lies a terrible truth, a truth about which many Westerners are unaware. Chinese Christians suffer unimaginable brutality and suffering because of their faith. Meet first-hand those who live, work, and sacrifice daily for their belief in Christ. Underground Christians report brutal beatings and other torture, including a method seemed designed for Christians that entails crushing the ankles of victims while they are forced to kneel–this “Christian” torture was applied to Liu Zhenying, one of the eight arrested in Henan in March, breaking his ankle. On Sept. 24, 1996, in Tanghe, Henan, police arrested Elder Feng, Brother Zheng, Brother Xin, Sister Li, and Sister Luo. According to a note smuggled from prison, the authorities bound Sister Luo’s arms behind her in an agonizing position and she was beaten unconscious. One of the men almost died from being beaten “for nine days and nights.” Members of the group were also poked with electric cattle prods, often while bound. They have been sentenced to three years’ labor camp. In Sichuan the police have been arresting and fining Christians once or twice a year …
